Article 2: Intellectual property rights
Copyright and design right
Renault is the author of this site in the sense of articles L. 111.1 and subsequent in French intellectual property law. The site was designed and developed by the company Tequila Rapido
All photographs, texts, slogans, designs, images and video sequences (with or without sound), and all other content on the site, are the property of Renault or of third parties having granted Renault authorization to use them.
Visitors are authorized to copy site content, including vehicle depictions, on paper or electronically, solely for strictly personal use. This specifically excludes all advertising, commercial and information purposes. Any copies must comply with article L122-5 of French intellectual property law.
Except for such strictly personal use, no site content or vehicle depictions may be reproduced, represented, used or transformed, by any process whatever, on any medium whatever, without prior authorization by Renault. Any such practice is strictly forbidden by law, and punishable by up to three years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to €300,000.
The Renault name, the diamond logo, product and service names, slogans and other logos are registered trademarks of Renault SA or other Renault group companies unless indicated otherwise.
The site also includes other registered trademarks, often identified as such by an initial capital. Such trademarks are used by Renault either with authorization from their holders, or as a simple indication of the products or services offered by Renault.
Any reproduction, imitation or use of these trademarks without prior authorization from Renault or the trademark holder is strictly forbidden by law, and punishable by up to four years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to €400,000.
Except as otherwise allowed under the CAU, users may not copy, change or reproduce any of the information or other material on the site, or intervene on the site, or in any way infringe upon the intellectual property rights of Renault or of third parties having authorized Renault to use theirs. Except as otherwise allowed under the CAU, no use may be made of any material protected by intellectual property rights belonging to Renault or to third parties having authorized Renault to use theirs.
Article 3: Personal and other data
The site collects users’ personal data (name, email, etc.) by means of registration forms for replying to requests for information, inputting job applications, and sending out electronic newsletters, notifications of press document issues, and announcements of forthcoming events. This personal data is used by Renault or its subsidiaries for purposes of information. It is confidential and in Renault’s keeping, and may be forwarded to Renault subsidiaries for purposes of information [surveys, analysis]. It may be transferred outside the European Union. Renault undertakes not to use any personal data for commercial purposes without prior notification to the users concerned.
Personal data input by users is confidential and in Renault’s keeping. Under articles 38, 39 and 40 34 of French data protection law (n°78-17 of 6 January 1978, amended by n°2004-801 of 6 August 2004), users are entitled to access and correct any data concerning them, and to refuse that such data be processed. This entitlement can be exercised by contacting Renault in either of two ways:

Users can stop receiving services offered through the site (such as the newsletter and press releases) by applying the procedure specified with each message. Subscriptions can be cancelled by applying the subscription cancellation procedure.
Non-personal data provided by users is used to help Renault offer products and services matching their tastes.
Renault may obtain such data by automated means, in which case the data is not associated with a person. Such data typically concerns the type of internet browser used, the computer’s operating system, and the domain name from which the Renault site is accessed.
Article 4: Site access
The site can be viewed anonymously. Users opening a password-controlled account on the site are responsible for keeping the account access confidential, and accept full liability for all actions performed using the account or password. Renault and its suppliers make no undertaking to manage, control or monitor the way visitors use the site. Users undertake to inform Renault immediately of any unauthorized use of their accounts. Users undertake to log off after each session on the Renault site. Renault shall not be held liable for any loss or damage arising from failure to fulfill these undertakings.
For Visitors who are minors, we remind parents or any other person holding parental responsibility that it is their role to identify the service(s) that their child is authorized to use and to monitor the use that he/she makes of the said service(s).
Children under 12 are not authorized to join. Children over the age of 12 may join on the express condition that they obtain permission from their parents (or the person holding parental responsibility) to do so and also to supply the information and e-mail addresses necessary for contact. They must obtain this preliminary authorization before joining. www.renault.com reserves the right to request written proof at any time, to undertake any checks, and to delete any personal accounts held by minors who fail to provide the said proof immediately or, where applicable, within the requested time frame. On receiving a request from parents, Renault.com will immediately delete any personal accounts together with the associated content.
Article 5: Use of forums, blogs, discussions

The site www.renault.com includes communication and exchange platforms (forums, blogs, discussions), enabling any User to post one or more messages free of charge on the dedicated site pages after identifying him/herself (see “Messages” below).
Using the site
All Visitors can read the messages posted on the site.
To join, Users must complete the form provided. Of the information requested, only the identity of the User (name or pseudonym according to the User’s choice) will be published on the site with the message posted.
RENAULT reserves the right, at its sole discretion, and without prior warning, to remove, in part or in full, any messages that breach applicable legislation, and in particular any messages that contravene the rules described below in article 2.
From a general standpoint, the User agrees to:
- respect the intellectual property rights relating to the site and to each of its constituent parts and, in consequence, not to represent, reproduce or use, in any form or by any means, any message published on the site, for which he or she does not hold copyright;
- post messages relating to automotive topics;
- post only messages that:
- respect the spirit of the site, in particular that do not pursue political ends, or purposes of propaganda or proselytism,
- are not contrary to public order and morals,

Obligations of www.renault.com
Intellectual ownership of messages
The User guarantees that he/she is the author of the messages posted on the site, or that he/she has obtained copyright for the messages before posting them on the site.
Concomitantly to the posting of the messages, the User authorizes www.renault.com to reproduce, represent and publish his/her messages on the site.
This license is free, non-exclusive and valid for the whole world throughout the period of protection offered by the copyright.
The User acknowledges that he/she has obtained prior authorization from any natural persons whose image is reproduced in messages, and also the agreement of all those holding copyright on items reproduced in messages for publication on the site, and accepts full responsibility for this publication with respect to these third parties. The site www.renault.com cannot be held liable for breach of image and intellectual property rights by the said third parties.
RENAULT cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from use of the site for any cause. In particular, RENAULT cannot be held liable for data corruption, fraudulent access to data and/or accidental transmission through a virus.
Further, RENAULT cannot be held liable if access to the site or site services is suspended or terminated for any reason without prior warning.
RENAULT thus reserves the right to suspend access to the site or site services, without prior warning, in the event of technical problems or maintenance operations.
Article 6: Cookies
Renault, or the company Nedstat, working on Renault’s behalf, or other partner companies, may send cookies onto the computers of visitors to the site. A cookie is a small data file sent to the user’s internet browser by a web server, and stored on the hard disk of the user’s computer. It is typically used to provide the website publisher with information on visitors’ browsing patterns (which pages are viewed, and when, etc.). The information stored in the cookies on the user’s hard disk will be read during subsequent visits in order to improve the content and services provided by the site.

In using the site, or any server or service accessible via the site, users undertake to comply with all applicable national and international laws and regulations. Renault undertakes to take every possible measure to ensure the security of information posted in the area provided for this purpose on the site. However, Renault cannot guarantee non-interception of any message sent electronically. Therefore, except for the information mentioned in article 3 above, Renault advises users not to disclose any unnecessary or sensitive personal information by this means. Article 9: Responsibility
Users wishing to do so accept the CAU of their own free will, and in doing so take on all the ensuing obligations. All visitors using the site therefore do so under their own responsibility, and undertake to comply with the requirements of the CAU, with all rules governing activities on the site, and with all laws and regulations applicable to users’ activities on the site, via the site, or in connection with the site.
All user input (content or any other material provided to Renault, uploaded to the site or made accessible via the site) must comply with the following requirements:

Users accept sole responsibility for their use of the site, and of information and services accessible via the site, and understand that neither Renault nor any of its subsidiaries, nor any member of the Renault dealer network may be held liable for any direct or indirect damage, material or immaterial, for any data or program loss, or for any financial damage arising from access to or use of the site or any linked sites, or from interruption, suspension, modification or discontinuation of the site or any part of it. The user specifically accepts that site content is provided with no guarantee of any kind.
Renault may take any measure it sees fit with regard both to site access and use by users, and to material input by users. Specifically, Renault may interrupt, restrict, suspend, or forbid access to all or part of the site, without warning or indemnity, if a user engages in conduct that infringes the CAU or any applicable law or regulation. This entitlement shall remain applicable even after termination or expiry of the CAU.
Characteristics of vehicles, cycles, scooters and any other product or service appearing on the site are as applicable when the site page was published or updated. Such data is provided on a solely indicative basis and shall not be considered as a contractually binding offer by Renault, its subsidiaries or members of the dealer network. Photographs illustrating products on the site are not contractually binding. Prices appearing on the site are also given on a solely indicative basis, and are not contractually binding. Users understand that errors and omissions may appear.
Legal restrictions may apply to accessing the products and services shown on the site. Users are responsible for ensuring that they are entitled to access the site under legislation applicable in the country from which the site is to be accessed.
Article 10: Suspension or interruption of access
At any time, Renault may temporarily or permanently restrict or suspend access to the http://www.renault.com/ site under the following circumstances:
- If a user fails to comply with the CAU (in which case Renault also reserves the right to take any other appropriate action)
- In the event of technical problems with the site publication and operation infrastructure
Users whose access is permanently discontinued undertake to immediately delete any copies they might have of the site or any of its content.
Article 11: Dealer network
Renault’s network of approved dealers is available to provide any additional information site visitors might need on the products and services shown on the site. Users are therefore invited to contact their dealers accordingly.
Renault dealers are independent merchants acting in their own name. As such, they alone are responsible for any information they put up on their own behalf on the site.
Article 12: Applicable law
Unless otherwise stipulated under the legislation of the user's country, the GTC, the website content and all the rights and obligations of the parties arising from or in connection with use of the website are governed by French law, and shall be interpreted and applied accordingly.
In the event of a dispute arising in connection with the GTC or with access to or use of the website, the parties shall endeavour to reach an amicable settlement before recurring to legal proceedings, it being understood that any such proceedings shall fall under the sole jurisdiction of the Cour d’Appel de Paris, whose courts the parties specifically acknowledge hold the sole legal capacity for judgement, regardless of any eventuality of multiple defendants or of claims for redress by third parties.
Article 13: Language
French is the original language of these GTC. Any dispute arising from differences of interpretation in a translated version shall be settled by reference to the original, authoritative, French text.
Article 14: Update of GTC
Renault reserves the right to change or update website access and the website GTC at any time, in which case it will endeavour to inform users accordingly, on the website. Users shall abide by such changes and updates, and are therefore invited to refer to this section regularly in order to verify the currently applicable conditions governing use of the site.
