ZOE’s new electric motor —R240—, powered by a battery under optimized electronic control, is more efficient, for higher performance. The new-generation unit is also more compact, and significantly extends ZOE’s travel range.

With its R240 motor, Renault takes yet another step forward in its drive to offer electric transport affordable to the broadest possible customer base. The 240 km (NEDC) travel range means even greater convenience for customers using ZOE on a daily basis. The upgraded Caméléon charger available with the R240 motor is especially efficient on 3 kW to 22 kW charging outlets, which account for more than 95% of the charging infrastructures currently in use. Development work on this innovative new unit gave rise to 95 patents, further confirming Renault’s front-line expertise in electric vehicle power.

30 km longer travel range


Optimized electronic control enhances the R240’s efficiency to lower ZOE’s energy consumption, with no penalty on vehicle power. Lower energy consumption means the car can cover more ground, which explains the 240 km (NEDC) travel range enjoyed by ZOE with the R240 motor, 30 km more than with its predecessor.

10% faster charging


The R240 is more compact than the previous Q210 unit, while packing the same drive performance (power, torque, etc.), and takes 10% less time to charge on average, under usual usage conditions. In upgrading the Caméléon charger, Renault engineers concentrated on reducing charging times at low power levels. The end result for the user is that there is more mileage in each minute of charge.

A motor made in France

This new unit builds on Groupe Renault’s prime know-how in both internal combustion engines and electric drivechains. And whereas the previous Q210 motor was made by an equipment manufacturer in Spain, R240 was designed and developed in France at the Renault Technocentre near Paris, and is made at the Cléon facility in Normandy.
