Redouane is an instructor at Société Marocaine de Construction Automobile (SOMACA), a Moroccan car manufacturer. Set up jointly by Fiat, the government and Simca, the company was bought by the Renault Group in 2004. Today, it builds vehicles for Spain, France, Egypt and Tunisia.
A huge soccer fan, Redouane has been picked by FIFA to be one of 63 World Cup assistant referees and will officiate in Russia from June 14 to July 15..

  • Redouane Achik is Moroccan and 46 years old. He joined SOMACA in 1998.
  • Since 2008, he has worked as an instructor at the Dexterity School, training future paint shop staff.
  • When he is off work, Redouane pursues his passion for soccer, a sport in which he is a well-known international referee.

Previous refereeing experience at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups

He began refereeing in 1994, following in his father's footsteps. At first, Redouane refereed for fun, but he eventually turned semi-professional and in 2008 was certified as an assistant referee* by FIFA, the sport's international governing body.
Since then, he has refereed at the world's top competitions, including the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the 2016 Rio Olympics. Redouane also referees matches for the Africa Cup of Nations, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the African Football Confederation.

Redouane’s team spirit, orderly approach and consistent decision-making show through both in his work as a trainer and on the field as a referee. The Renault Group is proud to support Redouane and help him live his passion to the full.

* The assistant referee of a soccer match has a very important role. His tasks include indicating when the whole of the ball leaves the field of play, which team is entitled to a corner kick, goal kick or throw-in, when players are in offside positions and when a substitute is requested.

** The matches referred by Redouane will not be known until the last moment.
