Promoting zero-emission travel freedom

Under the Eco Tour di Sicilia project, Renault plans to supply two hundred Renault ZOEs for the rental fleet of Sicily by Car, a leading Italian car-hire firm. Renault ZOE is today the only mass-market electric car to offer a travel range of 400 km NEDC (New European Driving Cycle), which translates to about 300 km under usual everyday driving conditions.

Another feature of this innovative project is the network of charging stations to be put up across the island. Enel (Italy’s leading electric utility) will be installing some 400 public charge stations in major towns and along tourist routes throughout the region, whose residents will also appreciate the new infrastructure for charging their vehicle batteries.

Electric transport and Italian culture

The Eco Tour di Sicilia project, the first of its kind in Italy (indeed, in Europe), throws a spotlight on the cultural splendour of Sicily, as well as developing and promoting motoring with zero environmental impact. Green transport helps to safeguard the scenery: naturally!

Electric transport makes a definite contribution to protecting the extraordinary natural, artistic and cultural heritage of a region such as Sicily”, comments Bernard Chrétien, head of Renault Italy.
