Women's Forum 2012: Renault-Nissan's commitment to diversity

12 October 2012
The 8th consecutive Women’s Forum Global Meeting was held between October 10 and 12, 2012 in Deauville, France.
by Renault Group

The Alliance has been a Premium Partner of this event since 2006. The forum is attended by a host of women and personalities from various backgrounds, who discuss a range of current and future issues that are important for our society.

The involvement of Renault and Nissan in the Women’s Forum is no less than logical. We are convinced that diversity and equal opportunities are causes and actions that leverage the performance of the company and help society on the whole to progress. The promotion of women is a priority at Renault and Nissan, which both insist on women being represented in their executive instances. Our participation in this event is also an opportunity to work together to change our professional practices.

Some 50 delegates from theAlliance, from 11 countries, took part in the various debates at the Women’s Forum 2012, which was also an opportunity to review the actions taken in favor of gender equality. At Renault, 15% of the Global Key Positions in the group are currently occupied by women. Nissan has made significant progress. Today, 7% of its executive managers are women, compared with 4% in 2009. There are currently two women on the Renault Group's executive committee, a record-breaking figure and one of the highest in the automotive industry.

The theme of this year's Women’s Forum was growth and social cohesion, which is expressed in various ways within the company. Social cohesion encompasses concepts such as motivation, commitment or team spirit, while other notions including unity, respect and trust represent other means of achieving social cohesion.

My heart has always been set on taking action in favor of diversity and the promotion of women, which is the reason why I was personally committed to this event. This year I was both proud and excited to take over the leadership of the Women@Renault network, whose numerous initiatives (mentoring, conferences, special training, events, etc.) allow the women at Renault to feel more confident, to assert themselves and to realize their potential for professional success and personal fulfillment. The network is also a means of accelerating the professional development of women and, as a consequence, revealing new talents.
