At this year's Geneva Motor Show, Dacia is celebrating a ten-year-long success story that started with the release of Logan in 2005 across Europe and the Mediterranean Rim. There's a lot new at the Dacia stand, starting with the anniversary party trimmings.
The main new attraction at the Renault stand this year is Kadjar, presented to the press on 2 February and making its first public appearance at the Geneva Motor Show. Visitors will also discover (or rediscover) the new Renault Espace, unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in the autumn, and a Renault Sport exclusive, the new Clio RS 200 EDC Trophy. The annual Geneva International Motor Show is an opportunity for car manufacturers from all over the world to present their new models. At the Geneva Motor Show Nissan brought together its range of fully updated crossovers for the first time and displayed alongside the new Juke, X-Trail and Qashqai. The company also unveiled its BladeGlider concept car – a European first – and confirmed the production start-up of the NV200, its first all-electric LCV. Nissan also caused a stir with the European launch of its supercar, the GT-R Nismo.
Two days after the reveal, we asked visitors what they thought of New Twingo. It was love at first sight for some, and a revolution for others. Many thanks to the visitors on the Renault stand who were willing to play the game and gave us their first impressions of New Twingo. So did they like it?
Csaba Wittinger was in charge of designing Renault Twin'Run, the concept car (2013) which later influenced New Twingo 's design. We caught up with him at the Geneva Motor Show and quickly realised this Hungarian-born designer is a huge fan of motorsports and of the R5 Turbo. So how did this heritage inspire him in his work? Does he think New Twingo is a true heir to the R5 Turbo? Answers below.
The electric city car was also on the stand to present a new charging cable, the “GrandMa’ charger” (understand: the cable you can use to charge your ZOE when you visit your grandmother!). This cable called Flexi Charger extends ZOE’s charging options by enabling the vehicle to be charged from a standard household power socket.
