CityMakers: open innovation projects share Groupe Renault’s strategic objectives

“Our company take advantage of the agility of the start-ups”. Nadine Leclair, Groupe Renault Expert Fellow, is pleased with the results of the first edition of CityMakers, an open innovation program dedicated to the transition to more flexible and sustainable forms of urban mobility launched with start-ups in April 2017 by Groupe Renault, NUMA and their partners Nissan, RCI Bank and Services, AXA, and Paris City Council. Among the nine projects selected, four presented by Persistant Studios, Toucan Toco, Dalberg Data Insights and Logiroad received special attention from Groupe Renault.

Groupe Renault explores disruptive ideas with the “House of cars” hackathon

Renault preparing infrastructures for the connected car of the future, with SCOOP

In 2017 the SCOOP project will be going ahead with wide-scale rollout of 3,000 cars testing tomorrow’s V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2X (vehicle-to-infrastructure) connectivity under real-life traffic conditions. True to its innovative stance on connection-capable road transport, Groupe Renault is providing a fleet of a thousand Méganes on this exciting European project, which has private- and public-sector backing.

PHYSICAL & VIRTUAL SIMULATION, A WINNING COMBINATION FOR AUTONOMOUS DRIVE

Renault is working to phase in autonomous drive capabilities in its product range, planning to be one of the first volume automakers to offer eyes-off/hands-off technology on authorized highway stretches from 2020. Digital simulation is an essential part of this work, during the design and validation phases of each successive technology milestone. Specifically it prepares for and optimizes tests involving real-life vehicles.

Innovation shaping the future of Formula 1, with the R.S. 2027 Vision concept

The R.S. 2027 Vision concept car unveiled on 19 April at the Shanghai Motor Show illustrates the Renault take on the shape of Formula 1 ten years hence, in 2027. To a great extent, this vision builds on the three main foundations of Renault innovation today: the electric vehicle, the connected vehicle and the autonomous vehicle. Key technologies in these three areas are, or will shortly be, available on Renault production vehicles.
