#GIMS2016: World première appearance for New Renault Mégane Estate at the Geneva Motor Show!
Elegance and energy
New Mégane Estate is attracting a lot of interest among journalists at the Renault stand in Geneva. The chrome trims make a great first impression, as do the integral roof rails in mat anodized aluminium. Then the superbly proportioned format (longer, wider and lower than its predecessor, Mégane 3) promises energetic performance and road-hugging response.
As on Talisman, the Renault design team opted for a distinctive light signature. On some versions, the C-shaped headlamps come with LED Pure Vision technology. And the rear lights feature 3D-effect Edge Light technology.
Superior space and comfort
The Mégane Estate driver could easily be forgiven for seeing him or herself as an airline pilot. The interior is deliberately designed with an aircraft mood in mind, and the control ergonomics are exceptional.
The boot space is effortlessly configurable thanks to the intuitive Easy Fold system for automatically folding down the rear seats. And the thoughtful side stowage compartments provide highly convenient everyday service.
Rear-seat passengers in New Mégane Estate enjoy a more comfortable seat position than in previous models, for a better travelling posture. The 216 mm rear-seat knee radius is best-in-class, and the rear bench is more inclined than on Mégane 3 Estate (27° instead of 25°).
Unique technologies
Renault’s newcomer brings in a wealth of features from cars higher up the price scale, such as the colour head-up display, the dashboard with 7” TFT screen, the 8.7” vertical multimedia R-Link 2 tablet, and 4Control on the GT version.
Broad choice of engines
For New Mégane Estate, Renault offers a broad choice of engines, comprising no fewer than six diesel and five petrol units.
New in 2017 : Hybrid Assist
In early 2017, New Mégane Estate will be available with Hybrid Assist, an electrically assisted diesel power unit, using a 48 V battery to provide an electric power boost for the car’s internal combustion engine, thereby bringing fuel consumption down while further enhancing brisk vehicle response.
New Mégane Estate GT: design inspired by Renault Sport
To address motorists with a sporting inclination, Renault offers a GT model whose Renault Sport connection is immediately apparent in the distinctive front bumper. New Mégane Estate GT is the first C-segment estate with 4Control technology, for brisk, crisp, precise response on winding roads. The driving experience is as reassuring as it is exciting.
Exterior features include upper and lower honeycomb grilles, and a lower air inlet framed by two elegant scoops. GT-badged 18’’ diamond-cut alloy wheels, specifically developed by Renault Sport, are available on option. At the rear, the car’s dynamic appearance is highlighted by a chrome tailpipe and profiled diffuser.
The interior exudes the characteristic Renault Sport atmosphere. The wrap-around seats with integral headrests, distinctive blue stitching and chequered sport logo offer both comfort and lateral support. The sportslike driving experience is enhanced by the ergonomically optimized steering wheel in perforated full-bloom leather, the aluminium sport pedal unit, and the specific gearstick, operating in tandem with the steering wheel paddles.
