Mondial2016: Behind the scenes of the 2016 Paris Motor Show a few hours before the gates open

The Paris Motor Show, a key event in the automotive industry calendar, opens to media professionals from all over the world tomorrow. This is one of the world’s most visited auto shows, with attendance at the 2014 event topping 1.2 million. At this years’ show, open to the public from 1 to 16 October, the exhibition area of 125,000 square metres will be shared by some 260 exhibitors in all.

True devotees, or just the most impatient among you, are invited to check out our exclusive behind-the-scenes coverage of the last-minute preparations under way at the exhibition centre.

The Renault and Dacia stands are going up just fine, and everything will be shipshape by the big day. In how many hours’ time? Nothing is left to chance: vacuum cleaners are humming, and people are busy cleaning, polishing, adjusting, whatever. They’re taking every possible measure to ensure the most attractive setting possible for our superbly appealing cars.

Everything’s got to be ready for when the first visitors roll up. It sounds obvious enough, but you’ve got to be there to understand what that means in practice.

At the Renault and Dacia stands, the staff is readying up for the final rehearsals before tomorrow morning’s press conferences. The speeches are being fine-tuned, the prompter’s being synced, the microphones are being tested and all the last-minute adjustments are being made.
