The Golden Steering Wheel awards are judged by the readers of 21 European motoring publications in tandem with a jury of industry experts who get to test drive the nominated vehicles at a proving ground. The fourth-generation MEGANE was notably praised for its dynamic design and its unique suite of technologies more generally associated with superior segments.
We are thrilled that the new MEGANE has won a Golden Steering Wheel award. Renault currently markets Europe’s youngest model line-up and the new MEGANE is a cornerstone of our product offensive. Our latest-generation models are proving extremely popular thanks not only to their elegant, emotive styling, but also to the many innovations they pack. As a coveted international accolade, this Golden Steering Wheel is a great endorsement of our work and shows that the new MEGANE is a hit in its markets.
Stefan Müller, Chief Performance Officer Renault S.A.S., at the official presentation ceremony in Berlin, Germany.
The Golden Steering Wheel awards have been presented since 1976 and Renault, with a total of 11 trophies to its name, stands out as one of the most successful recipients. Renault models that have earned Golden Steering Wheels in recent years include the SCENIC compact MPV (2009) and the fourth-generation CLIO (2012).
Meanwhile, the Renault MEGANE came away with the ‘Best Family Car’ prize at the Scottish Car of the Year awards where it was singled out for its distinctive styling and extensive list of driver aids. The ‘Best Crossover’ classification was topped by the Renault KADJAR which was particularly applauded for its sleek design, comfort and cabin space.
An array of impressive new models has returned Renault to a position of strength in Scotland.Competition in the crossover segment was fierce but Renault’s Kadjar performs strongly across so many areas. It is visually distinctive, well-equipped across the range and the perfect size to cope with the demands typically placed on a car in this category.
