A graduate of HEC and a Master of Law, Jean-Dominique Senard began his career with various financial and operational responsibilities within the Total Group from 1979 to 1987, then at Saint Gobain from 1987 to 1996.
From 1996 to 2001, he was Financial Director of the Péchiney Group and a member of the Group Executive Committee. He then managed the Primary Aluminum sector of the Péchiney Group until 2005.
Jean-Dominique Senard joined Michelin in March 2005 as Chief Financial Officer and member of the Group Executive Council.
In 2007, he became Managing Partner of the Michelin Group, then Managing General Partner, on May 13, 2011. Jean-Dominique Senard subsequently took over from Michel Rollier as President of Michelin. He is also President of "Entreprises for the Environment", co-President of the Regional Development Agency of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region.
In March 2018, he submitted to the government a report written with Mrs. Nicole Notat on the role of "Enterprise, object of collective interest".
He is an administrator of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain. He is also Colonel of the Citizen Reserve, attached to the 1st Foreign Regiment of Cavalry (Foreign Legion).
On January 24, 2019, Renault Board of Directors appointed Jean-Dominique Senard as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
