Born in 1950, Claude Baland holds a degree in History and a Master’s degree in Geography. He is a Geography Associate (1976) and a graduate of the École nationale de l’administration (ENA) (1983) – Solidarity promotion.
Claude Baland started as a teacher in the Nièvre region. He spent most of his career at the Ministry of the Interior, alternating between positions in central administration, prefectoral administration and the national police.
Claude Baland was Managing Director of the National Police in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
He ended his career at the Ministry of the Interior as President of the Higher Council for Territorial Support and Evaluation, which evaluates prefects and sub-prefects.
Claude Baland joined Groupe Renault as Director of Ethics on April 1, 2015.
On 1 January 2019, Claude Baland was appointed Senior Vice President, Ethics Advisor in the Ethics and Compliance Department. He is a member of Groupe Renault Management Committee.
